Final Pendragon Pass stuff based on discussions on the OSR Discord
Not at all accurate to the lore of Glorantha but let's pretend it's 1985. And the only books we have are either Runequest 3E (which didn't care about Glorantha yet), Runequest 2E (which only cares about adventuring in Glorantha) and Pendragon (cheating because the Noble's Book came out in 1986, but still before any RQ3E Glorantha material).
Now the average Sartar Clan has 900 people, 450 are adults. In the most recent editions, 600 would be adults becuase they revised the age they considered inhabitants to be children down from 16, the original starting age in RQ and Heroquest Glorantha.
Half the non-nobles are landed Carls and half are landless Cottars, infomation from a later lore source. The hides need adjustment again. Pendragon has never really cared about where the wealth comes from so long as it matches 1 Pound per hide, so all will be reffered to as hydes. Since 450/5 for one hyde per family, but it's really 450/2.5 because half those families are landless.
That gives us 180 Hydes of wealth for this avergae clan, and unlike in Pendragon, we can assume there is no extra hides off being worked by the peasents for their own food and income.
That's 1 Chief (Baron) at 44 hydes and KV (Knight Value) of 23, 8 Sheriffs of varying villages (Baronets) at 16 hydes each and KV 9 each.
8 freeholding hydes belonging to some combination of Knights and Carls and owing loyalty to somebody (KV 4-8, comprised of anywhere between four Ordinary Knights, 8 Carls/Poor Knights, 2 Rich Knights or 1 Superlative Knight)
23 + 9 x 8 + 4 = 99 Knights and Squires, or Weapon Thanes.
Praxian Culture remains as is.
Pelorian Culture, Undergoes a bit of a final change.
With all land distributed by the landlord, all the peasents are landless and the Knights live with the landlord elsewhere. So a more intesive cultivation means they go back to standard hyde amounts per noble rank but there are twice as many people and up to 2 free footmen can be mobilised per hide for defences. 16 hydes means 1 Rich Knight (KV3) 3 Knights (KV6) and 32 footmen (KV 6+6 if armed with great pikes and led on foot).
The Lunar Empire Pelorians pays1 Pound extra to double to effectiveness of any footmen they or their vassals hire. Compounding any pike bonuses. Representing centralised organisation and armouries.
